Next LSDXA Meeting

We are planning a meeting for September in the mid-cities DFW area. We would like a good attendance as we plan to vote on changes to the bylaws to bring them into line with current practice. Please check back for information as it becomes available.

Hamcom 2008 - June 13-14

Hamcom is over. The DX Dinner and the Hospitality suite were at the Holiday Inn Express this year. The DX dinner was held on Friday 13th at 18:30. Eric, K3NA the co-leader from VP6DX was the keynote speaker for our DX Banquet this year, obviously presenting the excellent VP6DX dxpedition..

There was a general meeting of the LSDXA and new Directors were elected. They are shown on the "About the LSDXA" tab of the menu. For clarification, we now show Directors (Elected) and Committee (Nominated) members separately.

Hamcom programs included

  • Dave Jaksa, W0VX - "DXing for the Non-Dxer"

  • Tim Pearson, K5AC - "Digital DXing - An intro to Digital Modes for DX'ers"

  • New SDR applications - Diversity reception and Active Beam Forming
by Gerald Youngblood, K5SDR, of Flex Radio.

  • Dr Beldar's, L1AR, DX & Contest Emporium - products you might not see at the Hamfest
This turned out to be Ward Silver, N0AX.

  • Taking your contest efforts to the next level

Jerry, KD5OM took some Hamcom photos HERE.

Our DXCC card checker Jim, W5QM was in attendance at Hamcom. Also, Ward Silver, N0AX was attending Hamcom courtesy of Coy Day (N5OK) and all his hard work. Ward gave us the ability to check all cards, waiving the deleted entity and 160m rules. All in all the 6 card checkers checked around 2500 QSO's on 36 applications. Jim kept them all in line, keeping up with all the applications and making sure there were no mistakes on their part.
