Telnet closing issue when using IE7

TELNET disabled in IE7 issue -- annoying, but not hard to fix if you know the basics of REGEDIT.

The ability to use the telnet:// protocol id in a URL has been disabled by default, but can be turned on easily.   Add This key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\InternetExplorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_DISABLE_TELNET_PROTOCOL

(thats' all one line)

Then add this DWORD in the key: iexplore.exe

(make sure to spell it correctly!)
Set it's value to 0. Close and restart any open IE7s.

Using Telnet with Firefox

If Firefox fails to open Telnet connections, I'm told it's because of windows XP. If you run THIS little file it will enable Telnet with Firefox.  It certainly worked for your webmaster.

If it opens as text, rather that a file, then copy and paste the text into notepad. Then save it as "Telnet for XP.reg". Then double click the file to run it.
